Backyard birdwatching is an activity that the whole family can enjoy. At this time of year, the birds will flock to your feeder for much needed nourishment. Here’s a fun way to involve the kids in making treats especially for backyard birds. It’s also a great way to use up breads crusts or bread that is going stale.
- 2 slices of any soft bread
- 8 tbsp. peanut butter
- 1/2 cup wild birdseed
Lightly toast the bread slices and spread the peanut butter on all four sides, using about 2 tbsp. peanut butter per side. Spread birdseed out on a paper plate and press the slices into birdseed to coat the peanut butter. Put the two slices together like a sandwich and place in a suet feeder for the birds to enjoy.
